Hello everyone and welcome to my new website!! 🙂
I’m so excited to finally launch an updated site, as well as to also offer prints! Selling prints is always something that I’ve wanted to do, but never really had the guts to try and sell my own art. However, now I’ve taken the leap and can’t wait to see what the future has to show me.
On another very important note, I’d like to take up a few lines to explain the main quote on my website: A life of dreaming is second to one of creating. I came up with that quote while trying to think of something “deep” to say, but it came to me while reflecting on my 3 years as a photographer.
During the first year of my career, I mainly shot whatever was available to me. A lot of street photography and a lot of random objects. A few months into my journey I began to shoot fashion, but I truly had no clear vision when it came to fashion – once again, I just shot whatever was available to me.
Between 6 months to 12 months of my journey, I found what I loved shooting the most.. Emotional portraits. I discovered this while shooting self portraits of myself that I noticed people enjoyed way more than my other works of art.. But the longer I shot, the more I listened to my fellow artists that told me that I would never be able to make a living off of emotional portraits….. So, I stopped.
Over the last 1-2 years I’ve developed an intense love for fashion, as well as a serious liking towards still life. But throughout these last 2 years I would continue to still shoot the emotional portraits, and nothing compares to the satisfaction of creating a photo that isn’t just “pretty” or “beautiful.” Striking up an emotion in myself is my main goal, and my audience follows after.
“A life of dreaming is second to one of creating.” I would dream of one day creating the emotional images that I love and shooting beautiful gowns.. Now, I just do it.
There’s no excuse not to create the vision that’s in your dreams. By simply showing the world that you’re attempting to recreate your dreams – whether it’s by learning to sew yourself, building your own sets, collaborating with new people – the resources that you need will become available to you and people will believe in your vision as well.
This year has been an amazing new beginning for me already.
I made my first dress.
Finally decided to start selling prints.
Believe in yourself and STAY POSITIVE. It’s so easy to be negative or let outside factors influence you.
Turn off the news every once and awhile. Hit “see first” for some of your favorite people on Facebook so that you’ll only see posts that you’ll enjoy. Read a book, watch Netflix, or even get some fresh air!
The point is to stay positive and do what YOU’RE supposed to do. Don’t focus too much on the client that annoyed you or how the world seems crazy. Negative energy is toxic, even when you’re just thinking about it.
Everyone needs a new beginning sometimes, so create yours. 😉
